Tell us a bit about your business and how you got started.
Bluebelle Studio is a boutique design studio with a focus on luxury wedding invitations, stationery, custom signage and corporate branding. I started this business a little over 6 years ago after helping a friend with their wedding invitations whilst I was studying. From there, the business has grown and now I have my own little space above Enough Studio.
What does a typical day look like for Bluebelle Studio?
Unfortunately I'm not an early riser - although I would like to be! I don’t know how people get out of bed at 5am! I am usually up by 7:30am, and the first thing I like to do is walk my dog followed by checking emails on my phone whilst eating brekky. I’ll make my way into the office (at Enough Studio) where I continue with emails and quotes from any urgent enquiries. Most of the day is usually filled with finishing off orders, assembling and designing new bespoke pieces for clients. I reserve late afternoon and after hours for appointments with prospective clients as I have a showroom available for viewing - plus it’s always nice to touch and feel stationery in person.
I wrap up at about 6:30pm (5pm if I’m lucky!) and head home to do all the responsible adult things like clean, make dinner and snuggle with my dog. I try to stay off my laptop but some nights I find myself working on my website and continually improving systems and processes to make the for a better customer experience.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Being a visual person, I love Instagram and Pinterest. I follow quite a few other designers from around the world. I've also set up my office to be quite pleasing to the eye so sometimes it's nice to take 5 minutes and sit on my couch and look around at the space I've created.
What made you choose Enough Studio and what do you get most out of working here?
It was by chance that I found Enough through a networking event! After seeing the beautiful hardwood floors and decorative fire place, I knew it was a space where I could grow my business. Lisa at Enough was also really friendly! And I love that the salon has a focus on sustainability, which is the direction I want to continue taking my business in. I have worked from home before and it's just a lovely change hearing other voices around the place, taking part in general chit chat and it also allows me to focus on my work without all the distractions around the home.
Goals for 2019?
Expand and promote my range of retail paper goods (greeting cards, etc.) as well as continually improving and evolving the business to be more focused on sustainability and the environment through reducing waste, recycling and product offerings such as seeded invitations and greeting cards that you can plant after you've received and read them.
