What is art journalling?
Art journaling can take on many forms but the overall idea is that it is a visual record and practice that enables the artist to:
Build a practice of creating art in a low-pressure environment; Experiment and identify one's “style”; Test concepts and ideas before moving on to bigger projects; Create purely meditative marks and drawings; Develop their artistic skills. Art journaling is a practice that has been used by creatives from all types of disciplines for centuries. But the best thing about it is that you don’t have to be an artist to start!
In this 2.5 hour workshop we explore various ways of beginning your own art journal practice; from meditative mark making to drawing techniques and mixed-media experiments. You will leave inspired to bring more creativity and art into your everyday life!
Please bring with you:
An art journal: A5 or A4 in size with at least 200 gsm paper thickness. If you don’t have a journal on the day there will be loose paper sheets for you to use. A small object from home for you to draw. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on! What is supplied:
All other materials needed for this workshop as well nibbles and light refreshments. Tickets are capped at 14 participants so booking is essential.
